Abstract

This study started from the problems low yields social studies class V students of SD Inpres Timika 1. In general, students' difficulties to understand the subject matter IPS using conventional teaching methods. Therefore, to improve learning outcomes IPS Siwa applied Cooperative Learning Jigsaw mode. This research is a classroom action research with qualitative approach. The research was conducted on a fifth grade students of SD Inpres Timika 1. Instrument used to collect data in the form of pieces of observation, documentation and achievement test. The data obtained in the study were analyzed using qualitative and quantitative data analysis. This study was conducted in two cycles and each cycle consisting of one meeting. Results of research on the cycle I data showed that 28% of students who completed and 72% of students are still not finished, so that continued in the second cycle by taking into account the weakness of the cycle I. Significant Enhancement obtained after the action on the second cycle this is evidenced completeness student reaches 90 % completed and only 10% who did not complete. That is Jigsaw learning can enhance the activity and student learning outcomes.
