This study aims to look at the effect of expository learning strategies on accounting students’ achievement on the material of accounting basic equations for students of grade X SMK Negeri 1 Batang Angkola. This research was carried out in SMK Negeri 1 BatangAngkola using experimental research methods. The study population was all students of Grade X Accounting at SMK Negeri 1 BatangAngkola, amounting to 60 students, while the sample was 30 people. The sampling technique is a random sampling. Based on the results of the descriptive analysis, it was found that the expository learning strategy in Grade X of SMK Negeri 1 BatangAngkola went well during the learning process carried out on the material of accounting basic equation. It can be seen that the average of the observations has an average value of 85 which is in the very good category. The average value of accounting students achievement on the material of the accounting basic equation before the application of expository learning strategy is 62.67 in enough category, while the average value of accounting students achievement on the material of the accounting basic equation after the application of expository learning strategies is 82.17 very good category. Based on the results of calculations carried out using the SPSS 22 application obtained t value of 11.351 at a confidence level of 95% or an error rate of 5% with a significant value of 0.000, meaning the value of sig (2-tailed) < 0.05. Based on these results it can be seen that there is a significant influence between expository learning strategies on accounting students achievement on the material of the accounting basic equation of Grade X SMK Negeri 1 BatangAngkola
