This study aims to determine whether there is an influence of the use of contextual learning on student learning activeness in economic subjects in class X IPS SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Timur. This research was conducted from May to July. This study uses an experimental research method. The population in this study was 22 people with data collection techniques, namely random sampling. The research instrument used was observation and questionnaire. To capture the data obtained in analyzing data, the author made observations as an instrument for variable (X), namely the use of contextual learning methods and the variable (Y) questionnaire as student learning activeness in economic subjects. Data collected were analyzed descriptively and inferentially. The results of the analysis carried out obtained the average use of contextual learning methods of 3.44 with the category of "Good". While the average value of the initial test (pretest) of student learning activeness is 3.0659 with the category "Good". And the average value of the final test (posstest) of student learning outcomes is 3.25 in the "good" category. Thus the results of data analysis obtained tcount = 2.797 while ttable = 1.725 where tarithmetic greater than ttable (2.797> 1.725). The hypothesis that the truth is upheld is that it means that there is a significant influence between the use of contextual learning methods and the learning activeness of students in economic subjects in class X IPS SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Timur.
