<p>The purpose of this research to know the students’ ability in writing news item text and the students’ difficulties in writing news item text at the tenth grade of SMA Negeri 1 Sosorgadong. The approach of this research was mix method (parallel covergent design). Quantitative research analyzed the students’ ability in writing news item text. Qualitative research analyzed the students’ difficulties in writing news item text. Instruments that researcher used test and interview, test was conducted for the students and interview was conducted for the students and Teacher. The informan of this research was 20 students class X IPS 2 and the Teacher of English.The result researcher found that the mean score ability of 20 students class X IPS 2 was 38,6, the median score was 41,5, mode score was 0 in category unacceptable-not. Then result of interview for the students and Teacher of English, the researcher concludes that the students’ difficulties in writing news item text were: never studied about the style and quality, do not know how to make the organization of news item text, not mastered the grammar and vocabulary, and the last is low motivation in writing. <br>Key words: Analysis, Ability, Difficulties, Writing News Item Text</p>Doharman Rotua SimatupangKamisah M.Pd

<p>Abstract: The purposes of this research are to find out: 1 The application of flashcard media in teaching present continuous tense. 2 The Students’ present continuous tense before and after given flashcard media. 3 Whether there is any significant effect of flashcard media in teaching present continuous tense ( a study at the tenth grade of SMK Negeri 1 Aek Nabara Barumun in 2023/2024 Academic Year). This research use experimental method with one group pretest and posttest design. The population are 84 with 25 sample take by purposive sampling. The instrument of the research are observation sheet and test from multiple choices. The average score before treatment are 47.36 and after treatment are 81.44. The result data shows that ttest higher than ttable (ttest > ttable = 47.36 > 2.06). <p><strong>Abstract</strong><em>: The objectives of this research are to know: 1. The application of team word webbing strategy on students reading comprehension of descriptive text, 2. The students reading comprehension of descriptive text before and after using team word webbing strategy, 3. Is there any significant effect of team word webbing strategy on students reading comprehension of descriptive text at the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Timur. This research uses experimental method with one group pre-test and post-test design. The population are 101 with 24 sample take by purposive sampling. The instruments of this research are observation sheet and test form multiple choices. The data is analyze by using t test formula. The result of data analyzing t<sub>test</sub> is higher than t <sub>table </sub>(21.44>2.07). The hypothesis is accepted, it means that there is any significant effect of team word webbing strategy on students’ reading comprehension of descriptive text at the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Angkola Timur in 2022/2023 Academic Year.</em></p>juli ana manik

Instrumen penelitian ini adalah wawancara, lembar observasi dan tes. Skor rata-rata sebelum perlakuan adalah 40,57 dan sesudah perlakuan adalah 72,19. Data hasil menunjukkan ttest lebih tinggi dari ttabel (ttest>ttabel = 12.64 > 2.09). <p>This study was aimed at improving pronunciation competence of the students by using audio lingual model. The subjects of this research were the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Lintongnihuta in the academic year 2023/2024. The total number of population was 96 students and the sample was VII-1 as the total of students are 32. This study was designed with a classroom action research which was conducted in three cycles that consisted of 8 meetings, four meetings were used to apply the audio lingual model and the rest meeting was used for the test and questionnaire. Each cycle involved four steps namely: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Pre-test was given to students in order to know the initial knowledge on pronunciation they had learnt. The data were obtained using two kinds of instruments: tests and questionnaires that would be analyzed descriptively. The improvement of the students was noted from the mean score obtained by the students. The mean score of the pre test was 51.13 and this was in poor level. The score increased up to 66.32 in post test 1 in which was good level. The score increased up to 70.05 and was a good level. The result of questionnaire indicated that 85.83% and 98.91% students liked learning English by using adio lingual model with high motivation. It can be concluded that audio lingual model was effective technique to improve students’ competence in pronunciation.</p>Romika Siringo-ringo

<p><strong><em>ABSTRACT</em></strong></p> <p><strong><em> </em></strong></p> <p><em>This research purposed to prove whether Self Collection Strategy and Students’ Motivation gives significant effect on the students’ Vocabulary Mastery on English Subject. This research was quasiexperimental research by using the post test-only control group design. The population was the students of SMP N Muarasipongi grade VII in academic year of 2023/2024. The writer used cluster random sampling to select the samples. To collect the data, the researcher used vocabulary test. The data analyzed by using t-test</em><em>SPSS16.0</em><em> .The findings of this research showed that the mean score of students who were taught by using Self Collection Strategy was 84. The mean score of students who were taught by using memory strategy was 76. It means that Self Collection Strategy gave significant effect toward their vocabulary mastery on English Subject. <p>This research originated from the problem of learning English in class XI.Akt.2 SMK Negeri 1 Padangsidimpuan, where in learning there is a low interest and ability of students in reading which affects the learning outcomes obtained by students. Therefore, to increase students' interest and reading skills in learning English, Comic Media was used in class XI.Akt.2 SMK Negeri 1 Padangsidimpuan. This research is a classroom action research using qualitative approach. This research was conducted on students of class XI.Akt.2 SMK Negeri 1 Padangsidimpuan. The instruments used to collect data are observation sheets, documentation and learning outcomes tests. The data obtained in the study were analysed using qualitative and quantitative data analysis. This research was conducted in two cycles and each cycle consisted of one meeting. The results of the research from each cycle of actions that have been carried out using Comic Media show an improvement in both the learning process and the learning outcomes of students' reading skills. This can be seen from the achievement of students in learning, where in cycle I the average score obtained by students only reached 56% completeness with an average student score of 69.2. While in cycle II showed a fairly high increase with an average student score of 80.2 and 84% completeness. Thus it can be concluded that the use of Comic Media succeeded in improving students' reading skills in learning English in class XI.Akt.2 SMK Negeri 1 Padangsidimpuan.</p>Dedi Priyanto

<p><strong>A</strong><strong>bstract : </strong>The objective of this study is to investigate whether the application of using of Video as Teaching Media significantly improves students’ ability in speaking in expressing thanking and apologizing. This study was conducted by using classroom action research. The subject of this research was the students in SMP Negeri 2 Tantom Angkola especially class VII-2 which consisted of 23 students. The research was conducted in two cycles. The instruments for collecting data were students’ score test, questionnaire sheet, and diary notes. Based on analysis, students’ ability is improved in every cycle test of speaking in expressing thanking and apologizing. In the first test in the cycle I, the mean score was 68.05 and the percentage of students who passed the Minimum Completeness Criteria was 43.4%. In the second test in the cycle II, the mean score was 79.87 and the percentage of students who passed the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM) was 82.6%. Based on the, questionnaire sheet and diary notes, it was found that the teaching learning process ran well. The students were more active, motivated, and enthusiastic working in the class. <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Abstract: The ability to read narrative text of students at SMP N 1 Lembah Sorik Marapi class IX for the 2023-2024 school year is still low. The aim of this research is to improve students' narrative text reading skills through the storytelling method. This research is classroom action research using instruments in the form of observation, questionnaires, student performance assessments, and documentation. This research was carried out from month to February 2024 in 2 cycles. In each cycle there are 4 activities, namely planning, action, observation, reflection. The research subjects were students in class VII of SMP Negeri 1 Lembah Sorik Marapi for the 2023 - 2024 academic year. The research results showed that the percentage of students whose grades were KKM. In the pre-cycle stage, it is known that the average student score is 70.71 because students who got a score above the KKM had exceeded 75%, namely 23 students and 5 students who got a score below the KKM with a percentage of 18%. The highest score is 90 and the lowest score is 20, while in cycle II it is known that the average score of students is 72.35 because students who get scores above the KKM have exceeded 75%, namely 17 students and students who get scores below the KKM are 2 students with percentage 18%. The highest score is 95 and the lowest score is 66. It can be concluded that the PBL method can be used to improve the ability to read narrative texts.<br>Keywords: Reading ability, narrative text, Problem Based Learning (PBL)<br>Abstrak: Kemampuan membaca teks naratif siswa SMP N 1 Lembah Sorik Marapi kelas IX tahun pelajaran 2023 -2024 masih rendah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca teks naratif siswa melalui metode storytelling. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas dengan menggunakan instrumen berupa observasi, angket, penilaian unjuk kerja siswa, dan dokumentasi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dari bulan sampai Februari tahun 2024 sebanyak 2 siklus. Di setiap siklus terdapat 4 kegiatan, yaitu perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan, refleksi. Subjek penelitian ini siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Lembah Sorik Marapi tahun ajaran 2023 - 2024. Ditunjukkan oleh hasil penelitian bahwa persentase jumlah siswa yang nilainya sudah KKM. Di tahap prasiklus diketahui nilai rata-rata siswa adalah 70,71 dikarenakan siswa yang mendapat nilai diatas KKM sudah melebihi dari 75 % yaitu 23 siswa dan siswa yang mendapat nilai di bawah KKM sebanyak 5 siswa dengan presentase 18%. Nilai tertinggi adalah 90 dan nilai terendahnya 20, sedangkan pada siklus II diketahui nilai rata-rata siswa adalah 72,35 dikarenakan siswa yang mendapat nilai diatas KKM sudah melebihi dari 75 % yaitu 17 siswa dan siswa yang mendapat nilai di bawah KKM sebanyak 2 siswa dengan presentase 18%. Nilai tertinggi adalah 95 dan nilai terendahnya 66. Based on the results of the action research, it can be concluded that Picture Series media can improve the recount text writing skills of class X hospitality students at SMKN 1 Bintan Timur. <p>Speaking is one of important parts in teaching language because it includes one of<br>four basic language skills. Nevertheless, in XI SMP Negeri 2 Sosorgadong, the writer found<br>that mostof students there still get the difficulties in studying speaking. It may be caused by the <br>method used in teaching English, especially speaking. Classroom Discussion is a method that <br>can be applied in teaching English, especially to improve the ability of speaking. In this method,<br>hopefully, the students get a big opportunity to express their own ideas and it can arouse their<br>motivation to speak in the classroom.<br>The purposes of this research is to find out if there is a significant difference between<br>the speaking ability of the eleventh year students of XI SMP Negeri 2 Sosorgadong the<br>academic year 2023/2024 taught by and without using Classroom Discussion.
