Abstract

Abstract: The ability to read narrative text of students at SMP N 1 Lembah Sorik Marapi class IX for the 2023-2024 school year is still low. The aim of this research is to improve students' narrative text reading skills through the storytelling method. This research is classroom action research using instruments in the form of observation, questionnaires, student performance assessments, and documentation. This research was carried out from month to February 2024 in 2 cycles. In each cycle there are 4 activities, namely planning, action, observation, reflection. The research subjects were students in class VII of SMP Negeri 1 Lembah Sorik Marapi for the 2023 - 2024 academic year. The research results showed that the percentage of students whose grades were KKM. In the pre-cycle stage, it is known that the average student score is 70.71 because students who got a score above the KKM had exceeded 75%, namely 23 students and 5 students who got a score below the KKM with a percentage of 18%. The highest score is 90 and the lowest score is 20, while in cycle II it is known that the average score of students is 72.35 because students who get scores above the KKM have exceeded 75%, namely 17 students and students who get scores below the KKM are 2 students with percentage 18%. The highest score is 95 and the lowest score is 66. It can be concluded that the PBL method can be used to improve the ability to read narrative texts.

Abstrak: Kemampuan membaca teks naratif siswa SMP N 1 Lembah Sorik Marapi kelas IX tahun pelajaran 2023 -2024 masih rendah. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca teks naratif siswa melalui metode storytelling. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas dengan menggunakan instrumen berupa observasi, angket, penilaian unjuk kerja siswa, dan dokumentasi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dari bulan sampai Februari tahun 2024 sebanyak 2 siklus. Di setiap siklus terdapat 4 kegiatan, yaitu perencanaan, tindakan, pengamatan, refleksi. Subjek penelitian ini siswa kelas VII SMP Negeri 1 Lembah Sorik Marapi tahun ajaran 2023 - 2024. Ditunjukkan oleh hasil penelitian bahwa persentase jumlah siswa yang nilainya sudah KKM. Di tahap prasiklus diketahui nilai rata-rata siswa adalah 70,71 dikarenakan siswa yang mendapat nilai diatas KKM sudah melebihi dari 75 % yaitu 23 siswa dan siswa yang mendapat nilai di bawah KKM sebanyak 5 siswa dengan presentase 18%. Nilai tertinggi adalah 90 dan nilai terendahnya 20, sedangkan pada siklus II diketahui nilai rata-rata siswa adalah 72,35 dikarenakan siswa yang mendapat nilai diatas KKM sudah melebihi dari 75 % yaitu 17 siswa dan siswa yang mendapat nilai di bawah KKM sebanyak 2 siswa dengan presentase 18%. Nilai tertinggi adalah 95 dan nilai terendahnya 66. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode PBL dapat digunakan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca teks naratif.
