Abstract
To get the effective and efficient aim of Social Science - History learning, it can be by using various and enjoyable learning. One of the learning model which can be used to make students active is portfolio based learning. The aim of the research is to know how the planning of portfolio based learning model on social science-history in MTsN Durian Tarung Padang, the implementation of portfolio based learning model on social science-history in MTsN Durian Tarung Padang and the implication of portfolio based learning model on social science-history in MTsN Durian Tarung Padang. The type of this research is descriptive-qualitative. The source of the data is history teachers, students and administration staff. The method of the research is observation, interview and documentation and collecting data and analyzing data by data collection, data reduction, data display, and verifying data/drawing conclusion. Based on the research findings, the researcher can conclude that: First, in planning of portfolio based learning model in Social science-history by history teacher in MTsN Durian Tarung Padang by activating students in learning process, this started by giving module to students to study based on lesson planning (RPP). Second, in process of portfolio based learning model by teacher to students by identifying problem, selecting a problem to be discussed in classroom, collecting the information related to material lesson, and making class protfolio by applying discussion and problem solving method, by giving students task to search the information related to the topic then students present the report in classroom by portfolio presentattion. Third, the implication of the portfolio based learning model in MTsN Durian Tarung Padang, students are more active and creative in learning process of socioal science (history) by using portfolio based learning model and have high enough enthusiasm , active and cooperative in learning process. This can be seen in portfolio presentation of students achievement.
