Abstract
This study aims to know whether there is the significant influence of using cooperative learning strategy on students’ IPS achievement on the topic of forms of social change at the ninth grade students of SP Negeri 6 Sibolga. This research was conducted for 3 month (September2016 until November 2017) by applying experimental method. Sample of this research is 24 students which taken by using random sampling technique. Questionnaire and test were used in collecting the data. Based on the data analysis, it was found that: (a) the average of using cooperative learning strategy is 2.20 (good category), (b) the average of students’ IPS achievement on the topic of forms of social change before using cooperative learning strategy is 79.17 (good category) and after using cooperative learning strategy is 87.92 (very good category), and (c) tcount is greater than ttable (3.25>1.717). It can be concluded that there is the significant influence of using cooperative learning strategy on students’ IPS achievement on the topic of forms of social change at the ninth grade students of SP Negeri 6 Sibolga.
