Aplikasi Hukum Lingkungan Dalam Pembentukan Karakteristik Ruang Interaksi Sosial di Permukiman Kelurahan Pertamburan Kecamatan Tanah Abang Jakarta Pusat

Abstract

The population growth of residential areas requires the provision of public facilities. The availability of land restrains the provision of open public space, and the lack of open public space in residential areas will in turn tend to produce ‘spaces’ for social interactions. This phenomenon ocuurs in Kelurahan Petamburan, Kecamatan Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta. Several research questions need to be raised, are: (1) to what extent the influencing factors play the role in shaping the social interaction ‘spaces’?; (2) what are the characteristics of social interaction ‘spaces’ in the high density residential area of Kelurahan Petamburan, Kecamatan Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta? This research is aimed at assessing the factors determining the shape of social  interaction ‘spaces’ and the characteristics of social interaction ‘spaces’ in Kelurahan Petamburan. A qualitative and rationalistic approach was used in this research with 11 cases selected as the samples. square and linear; the characteristics of space on alleys with 6 meter width tend to be more open in nature and can accommodate the activities of the residents; whereas on alleys with 3 meter width, the spaces are
relatively constrained and lacking of good views; in addition the activities are mostly casual meetings.
